Stadium:
United Spirit Arena
United Spirit Arena is a 15,020-seat multi-purpose arena in Lubbock, Texas. The arena opened in 1999. It is home to the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Lady Raiders basketball teams and volleyball team. United Supermarkets, a Lubbock based supermarket chain with numerous stores in west Texas, was a major contributor. Thus, it was granted naming rights. Prior to the building of the arena, the teams played in the nearby Lubbock Municipal Coliseum.

Team History:
Bob Knight has served as the men's basketball coach since 2001. On New Year's Day 2007, a 70-68 defeat of New Mexico by Tech marked the 880th total win for Knight, making him the winningest coach in men's college basketball history. Knight also has several other distinctions, including being the only coach to win the NCAA, the NIT, the Olympic Gold, and the Pan-Am Gold, and has been given several awards. He is currently a nominee for the 2007 ESPY Award in the category of Best Record Breaking Performance. The winner in each area is selected by online votes from fans.[1] The Red Raiders' participation in the 2007 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament marked another record. With their inclusion as the #10 seed in the East Regional, Knight became the coach to lead his team to more NCAA Tournaments than any other. Tech lost to Boston College in the first round by a score of 84-75.

Season Preview:
Good news: Bob Knight returns the league's most underrated and versatile player in 6-5 senior Martin Zeno. In addition, the best Red Raiders recruiting class since Knight arrived in Lubbock includes three of the state's 10 best players. The most important will be John Roberson, a mighty-mite point guard from Plano, Texas. Bad news: Replacing Jarrius Jackson will be as important as Texas A&M replacing Law. While his defense was found wanting at times, he was an explosive scorer and clutch player. And the lack of a proven low-post scorer has been a way of life under Knight at Tech.
