Quickly gaining the reputation as one of the nation's most intimidating road venues, Texas A&M's Kyle Field has been the home of the Aggie football team since the mid-1920s. The Aggies have always been tough to beat at Kyle Field with an all-time record of 247-119-12 (66.9 winning percentage) on their home field. In the 1990s, Texas A&M was dominant at Kyle Field with a 55-4-1 (92.5 winning percentage) record. During that span, the Aggies put together two of the longest home winning streaks in school history.

Season Preview:
Can Dennis Franchione finally sustained some consistency after alternating trips to the Cotton and Holiday bowls with losing records in his first and third seasons at Texas A&M? Chances are he will. The Aggies should be tough to contain with nine returning starters on offense. If they can fill some defensive holes and not be hurt on special teams, this team is capable of competing for A&M's first Big 12 title since 1998. Enough returners exist for the Aggies to flatten defenses with their powerful run game. Mike Goodson is a swift back, Jorvorskie Lane is a bruiser and Stephen McGee is always a threat to bolt from the pocket. McGee will be asked to produce more through the air, and his accuracy (a .620 completion rate and just two interceptions last season) stirs confidence. The ball-control attack A&M presents helps its defense stay fresh. That's important with five new starters to break in, though DE Chris Harrington and DT Red Bryant are all capable of disrupting opposing offenses. This unit made significant improvement last season in Gary Darnell's first year as coordinator and should not slip. Although snaps and holds are often taken for granted, the complexity of the exchange was demonstrated in the spring game when PK Matt Syzmanski missed an extra point. Three long kickoff returns also were indicative of the added preparation teams must put in defending boots that are now placed at the 30-yard line. The A&M coverage units consisted of 12th Man members.
