Stadium: Kenan Stadium
Carolina football plays its home games at Kenan Memorial Stadium (cap. 60,000), one of the most picturesque athletic venues in America. Kenan Stadium has been the home of the Tar Heels since 1927 and the thrill of playing in or attending a game there is as exhilarating now as it was when it was first constructed. Considering its majestic setting among the Carolina pines, many observers say Kenan Stadium is the most beautiful football facility in the country. The stadium's beauty, charm and simple elegance have not been diminished with the expansion project that added nearly 8,000 seats, a state-of-the-art football facility, chancellor's box and preferred seating box. The renovation and expansion project was financed through a combination of private contributions through the Educational Foundation and bonded indebtedness from the athletic department through the sale of revenue-generating bonds. The Educational Foundation and its members have committed more than $50 million to the project.

Season Preview:
The Tar Heels return only 10 starters from last season's 3-9 team, but with a large redshirt freshman class available could make significant improvement. Settling on a quarterback will be a key. Redshirt freshman T.J. Yates and sophomore Cam Sexton look to compete for the starting job at quarterback, though incoming freshman Mike Paulus could get a serious look when he reports in the fall. Whoever wins the job will have a talented receiving corps headed by sophomore speedster Hakeem Nicks to throw to. Running back also remains open. With only four starters returning, depth looks to be a concern throughout the lineup, but the secondary will get more attention when fall camp opens. Starting with a virtual clean slate may not be that big a worry considering the Heels gave up 173 yards a game to opposing rushers last fall. PK Connor Barth was perfect on 10 field goal attempts in 2006, but the Heels are looking for a new punter. Brandon Tate and Nicks are both breakaway threats in the return game.
