Stadium: Memorial Stadium
The home of the Huskers since 1923 and the location of a continuing NCAA-record sellout streak that reached 282 games at the conclusion of 2006, Memorial Stadium has undergone some dramatic changes this season. More than 6,500 seats have been added in the North Stadium as part of the Memorial Stadium Expansion Project, which will bring the historic stadium's capacity to 81,067 in 2006. The impressive changes, including one of the largest in-stadium replay screens in the nation - have been evident on gameday in 2006.

Season Preview:
The nonconference schedule features games against two of last season's Bowl Championship Series participants, Southern California and Wake Forest, which should give Nebraska a proper tuneup entering Big 12 play. Potential slips are possible, with road games at Missouri and Texas, but the Huskers still will be favored to retain the North title with no proven challenger in their path. With considerable depth emerging at most of the position groups, the QB battle between Sam Keller and Joe Ganz may be overrated. Unless the Huskers are hounded by injuries, they should have enough firepower among backs and receivers, as well as better depth in the offensive line. The most dangerous playmakers, assuming both are available, would be the two returning wideouts, Maurice Purify and Nate Swift. Purify's future was clouded in June, when he was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Purify was driving 53 in a 40 mph zone when he was stopped. The earlier citation involved Purify being charged with two counts of assault, resisting arrest, trespassing and failure to comply after a May 5 incident at a downtown bar. Purify was accused of throwing a man over a table, hitting him several times and striking the man's girlfriend. Purify had been authorized to enter a pretrial diversion program in that case. The spot that will get the most attention during the fall will be the defensive line, where the Huskers must replace all four starters. A solid linebacker corps, coupled with additional experience in the back end, gives Nebraska a chance to be dominant defensively. It needs to create push, if not a consistent rush, from its revamped front four. Nebraska could use a new set of kickers after losing PK Jordan Congdon and watching P Dan Titchener average just 39.3 yards last season. Michael Such will battle Titchener, while Jake Wesch appears to be the top candidate among kickers. Kickoff returns are an issue after the Huskers ranked 112th nationally.
