Stadium: Nippert Stadium
Nippert Stadium has been home to Bearcats football since 1902, making it the fourth-oldest playing site and fifth-oldest stadium in college football. The stadium's founder was Arch Carson, who as captain and principal organizer, played a significant role in starting football on the UC campus in 1885. In 1901 as physical director of the university, Carson guided the construction of the field which was later named for him-the playing surface is still called Carson Field.

Season Preview:
Cincinnati, under Mark Dantonio, overcame a ridiculous schedule and made it to a bowl game last season, winning that bowl game after new coach Brian Kelly had come in and taken over the bowl prep. The Bearcats have players, they have a coach, they have some success; and now they continue their march toward becoming relevant in a pro sports town. Kelly knows that when he's recruiting, he's out on the trail looking for both players and interest -- and he takes over a team that should be good and will have the benefit of not playing that crazy schedule. It HAS to help. Things were all set up for Dustin Grutza to be the 2007 quarterback, but enter Ben Mauk, the former Wake Forest starter who is attending Cincinnati for grad school and has a year of football to play. Mauk is seen as more of the kind of QB Kelly wants to run an offense that has enough athletes to make things exciting. Regardless of who wins the starting job, this team will shift from a running outfit to one that will throw. "They spread you out and they open the field up," safety Haruki Nakamura said after the spring game. Wide receivers Dominick Goodman and Derrick Stewart are being joined on the outside by Mike Daniels, shifting from running back after missing last season with a knee injury. The Bearcats were third in the Big East in total defense, fourth in scoring defense and rushing defense and fifth in passing D last year; all things for Kelly to build on as he takes over his new job. The group, led by the rush of defensive end Trevor Anderson, had 10 sacks in the spring game. Not so special coming right out of the gate; after kicker Kevin Lovell, punter Brian Steel and long snapper Patrick Farshing all ran out of eligibility at the same time. But Jake Rogers emerged as the kicker and Kevin Huber, who had two long punts in the International Bowl and followed that with a strong spring, is the punter. Mike Windt was seen as the leader over Jason Kelce and Donnie Wavra in the battle to become the snapper.
